Experience the magic of a real Choco adventure, right along the Pacific Sea, contrasting beaches, striking tide patterns, humid jungle walks full of Heliconias, natural river pools and off course lowland Chocó birds easy to spot! There are also some good mammal spotting opportunities for Neotropical Otters (Lontra longicaudalis), Geoffroy’s Tamarins (Saguinus geoffroyi) and Tayra (Eira barbara)

Birds that can be found in the area are the Baudo Oropendola (Psarocolius cassini), Ocellated antbird (Phaenostictus mcleannani), Strip-throated Wren (Cantorchilus leucopogon), Red lored parrot (Amazona autumnalis), Great Green Macaw (Ara ambiguus), Northern Barred-Woodcreeper (Dendrocolaptes sanctithomae), Streak-chested Antpitta (Hylopezus perspicillatus), Black-headed Antrhush (Formicarius nigricapillus), Brownish twistwing (Cnipodectes subbrunneus), Double banded Graytail (Xenerpestes minlosi), Black-tipped cotinga (Carpodectes hopkei), Yelllow-eared Toucanet (Selenidera spectabilis). Tanagers include the Scarlet-browed (Heterospingus xanthopygius), Blue whiskered (Tangara johannae) and Rufous-winged (Tangara lavinia), good manakin opportunities with Blue-crowned (Lepidothrix coronata), Green (Chloropipo holochlora) and Red-capped manakins (Ceratopipra mentalis)

Day 1. Arrive to Medellín and towards Bahía Solano

We will take an internal flight by plane to Bahía Solano, and then take a 4WV to  El Valle while stopping along this 18 km road for some good action.

Day 2-4  El Valle area, Bahía Solano

We will explore the area following different trails depending on weather conditions and state of the roads (remember you are in the Real Chocó, wild and unpredictable!! ). All trails are packed with birds and beautiful scenary.  Trails we might take include the Utria trail, connecting El Valle and Utría National Park, Rio Tundo trail, Caimanero creek and the Bahía Solano – El Valle road again if we feel we missed important things on day 1.

Nights (1-4): Ecolodge El Almejal, Bahía Solano, Chocó.

Day 5. Travel back to Medellín

International departures should start on the next day, as we might arrive late at night to the hotel.
